The Military Macaw does look a bit like he's wearing a military uniform, with his mostly green body and bright red tuft of feathers at the base of his upper beak. These birds are not very commonly kept as pet birds, as most people tend to favor their brighter colored relatives like Blue & Gold Macaws. But the secret about these birds is slowly spreading - they are likely to be more easy going, gentle, and quieter than many other Macaws. Many also bond well to a whole family group, becoming very loyal companions and full fledged members of their entire human family. These large birds are playful and love to take things apart, so be sure you provide many different toys to help keep their minds active and to help keep them out of any trouble they could cause roaming your house !
