Lories or Lorikeets are a bit different than most other parrots - they have a tongue that works more than their beaks when it comes to eating. In the wild, these birds are nectar eaters, meaning they fly from blossom to bloom and eat the juicy liquid nectar found among the plants. In captivity, they are among the most animated, active, and just generally hysterical birds you'll ever see in action - and a Lory loves being in action ! These birds are capable of impressive speech and are often talented whistlers too. Lories come in a whole rainbow of splendid colors and are among the brightest, most strikingly colored birds on the planet. One important thing to know before consider a Lory in your home - due to the nature of their diet, they product very liquid stools, and are experts at "poop shooting" out all side of their cages at walls, floors, other pets, or unsuspecting humans.
